Projecting Reality

The ability to project reality belongs to each one of us.

The challenge is every single person, no matter how strong or weak, is projecting a version of reality. And as we interact, these projections sometimes merge and other times one gets overwritten by another. We can be swept into someone else’s dream.

If we understand how it works, we can practice fueling our own dream, not in isolation but as a force for the benefit of all beings.

These projections run on imagery – on the image we hold in our minds. It doesn’t matter if we are saying we don’t want it. What gets projected is the IMAGERY.

In other words, the Unconditioned / Universe / God / Goddess or whatever you want to call the underlying matrix of creative reality does not understand the word “NOT” so only the image within the mind is projected. (Easy example: I do not want noisy neighbors will bring you noisy neighbors.) Instead always focus on what you DO want to experience. (Example: I want a quiet, serene neighborhood.)

I am doing my best to hold a bright future in mind at all times. I do this by remaining aware of all that is happening, and consciously counteracting the thoughts spewed out of hate and fear by moving my mind to the best possible option.

If there is action I can take to shine the light in a brighter way, I do it. Thoughts are not enough, but they are the start of all action.

This is not always easy, especially for those who are constantly being impacted by fear and hate on a physical and deeply emotional level. Acting out of fear and hate is a popular option, and sometimes can be called “the right thing to do” but hate leads to only more hate.

When we hate something we are saying it should not exist, yet it does exist – so the very act of hate leads us deeper into confusion.

This does not mean we hide in denial of horrific things that are happening in our world. Rather it means we bring them into the light of our awareness and imagine a brighter option. We do not stay in outrage; we use that outrage as fuel to create something better.

As practitioners, we dig into the feeling of hate and uproot it at the source. We recognize the dependent origination of all things, including us and the object of our hate. The only way out is through love. We love the part of us that hates. And if necessary, we use boundaries to protect ourselves and others from those consumed by hatred and greed and ignorance. But we create those boundaries on a foundation of love.

In other words, we recognize the darkness and we deal with it by returning our focus to the Light. And we act in accordance with the Light. This opens a new pathway, a doorway for not only us but for all those who wish to live in peace and joy.

This is not an easy practice, but it is worth the effort.
